The
Indian system of Ayurvedic is based on flora and
fauna and the environment, due to two main factors.
Firstly in the pre-independence period after independence
this neglect continued for almost 40 years. Ayurveda
is the most commonly used health care system in
the country, except in urban areas. Yet it is
only recently that Ayurveda is being accorded
its due and that too gradually.

|
The
system of Ayurveda is based on herbs and the environment
and has withstood the travail of 5000 years of
history. In recent times it has suffered a lot.
The colonial powers, in their desire to promote
western medicine totally neglected Ayurveda and
deliberately attempted to condemn it as an outdated
concept. Ayurveda is most commonly used health
care system in the country, except in urban areas.
Yet it is only recently that Ayurveda is
being accorded its due and that too gradually.
